2007 WORCESTER LEAD POISONING PREVENTION
COMMUNITY SUMMIT Working Together for Safe Homes and Healthy Children

Day 1 - Professional Development Day

Day 1 will provide opportunities to learn about and discuss applying national best practices to local challenges with practical, skill-building sessions. This day will interest professionals from community-based health and social service agencies, government agencies and nonprofit organizations, as well as educators, researchers, contractors and property owners.
This event will offer 3 program tracks:
- Policy and Best Practices
- Advocacy and Education
- Technical Aspects of Deleading
In addition, this day will feature a keynote by renowned lead poisoning prevention advocate, Ruth Ann Norton, Executive Director of the Coalition to End Childhood Lead Poisoning, a national advocacy organization.
Our closing plenary will include a talk by Darshak Sanghavi, M.D., Department of Pediatrics, UMass Medical School, frequent contributor to NPR's All Things Considered and The Boston Globe, and author of the widely acclaimed best-seller, A Map of the Child: A Pediatrician's Tour of the Body.
Registration for the Professional Development Day is $20 and includes lunch and a continental breakfast. Register early! Registration deadline is October 9th. Scholarships are available. Travel scholarships are available for representatives of grassroots organizations coming from more than 20 miles away.
This program (October 12 only) has been approved for 5 Continuing Education hours for relicensure, in accordance with 258 CMR. Collaborative of NASW and the Boston College and Simmons College Schools of Social Work Authorization Number D 39213. Those interested in receiving CEUs may register and pay an additional $10 processing fee the day of the event.
Day 2 - Community Day

Day 2 is a free community day for parents, tenants, homeowners, landlords and neighborhood groups. This day will feature workshops on lead poisoning prevention basics, tenant and landlord rights/responsibilities, and ways to finance deleading.
There will be free food, activities for children, information and give-aways from a variety of local agencies, and a fun and educational theater activity with youth members of the Toxic Soil Busters Co-op.
Important: Please let us know no later than Friday, Sept. 28th if you are deaf or hard of hearing, or are a person with a disability who requires accomodation, if you require translation services, have dietary restrictions (Oct 12 only) or will need childcare (Oct 13 only), and we will do our best to meet your needs.
